My strategist comment was directed at John Kumah – Ken Agyapong.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was not the target of a recent strategist’s remark.

He claimed it was aimed at John Kumah, a deputy minister of finance and representative for the Ejisu district.

Because of the dysfunctional handling of the local currency, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong dismissed the government.

He claimed that as of March 2022, he had $40 million in Cedi equivalent, but as a result of the Cedi’s depreciation by August of the same year, the value had fallen to $16 million.

The bad performance of the Cedi versus the main trade currencies, especially the Dollar, is typically attributed to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also the head of the economic management team and a potential NPP candidate. However, Mr. Agyapong did not specifically name him.

On Sunday, July 16, Mr. Ken Agyapong, an Assin Central lawmaker who is running to be chosen flagbearer, said during a campaign stop in Kintampo East, “We would have problems if we don’t perform a clean campaign because I will reply to every charge made against me.

“You call yourself a strategist, but the Dollar cost 4 Cedis when we took over, and today it costs 12 Cedis, yet you identify as one.

“I had the equivalent of 40 million dollars in Cedis in March 2022. By August 2022, the value of the 40 million dollars had fallen to 16 million.”
