GhMediaHubMohammed Salisu, a defender from Ghana who recently signed a 15 million euro contract with AS Monaco, has explained as to why he has yet to play for the French club.
Salisu committed his future to Monaco when he left Southampton, but supporters have yet to see the center-back in action as he was not even present for Monaco’s 4-2 victory over Clermont Foot in their Ligue 1 debut.
Salisu addressed concerns about his absence by claiming that he is now working hard to get in condition so that the coach will select him.
“Last season was challenging for me because of various physical problems. I’m currently putting a lot of effort into getting ready as soon as I can and being available to the coach and the team. My objective is to swiftly get back into shape, but more importantly, to do so permanently.
After joining Southampton from Real Valladolid in 2020, the defender was a great performance, but injuries have unexpectedly delayed his progress as he diligently strives to stay healthy in anticipation of his Ligue 1 debut.
Salisu is still questionable for the Black Stars’ upcoming encounter against Central African Republic in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, which takes place in September, after missing all of Ghana’s games so far in 2023 due to injury.
