17y/o dies after bridge collapse in Gomoa-Nyanyano

In Gomoa Nyanyano, a town located in the Central Region of Ghana, a 17-year-old Junior High School (JHS) student died tragically after an abandoned bridge collapsed on him while he was walking home from school.

The already weak bridge gave way, trapping the victim and causing a large slab to fall on him, resulting in his immediate death.

His body has been taken to the mortuary, and the police are investigating the incident.

Some residents are outraged and are threatening to vote against the Member of Parliament for the area, Desmond De-Graft Kwasi Patioo, who they claim failed to fulfill his campaign promise of fixing the bridge.

They also report that the bridge is difficult to cross during rainy seasons, causing difficulties for pupils who need to attend school.
