Chris Hughton’s secondary roles revealed by the GFA

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) communications director, Henry Asante Twum, has clarified that Black Stars coach Chris Hughton can offer “advice” and “guidance” to youth national teams.

According to Twum, Hughton’s experience has been beneficial to Ghana football, and he has other responsibilities apart from coaching the Black Stars.

Twum explained that Hughton can recommend players who fall within the U-23, U-20, and U-17 competitions and those who qualify to play in the Black Stars.

Twum added that this is part of the mid to long-term process of incorporating everyone and giving them a fair opportunity.

Hughton has recorded a win and a draw in his first two games as coach of the Black Stars, putting Ghana on the brink of qualification for the next Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
