The Black Stars of Ghana are scheduled to play a friendly match against the United States of America on October 17, 2023. This match is part of the preparation for the U.S. Men’s National Team’s quarterfinal matches in the Concacaf Nations League.
The USA will first face Germany on October 14 in Hartford, Connecticut, before playing against Ghana three days later at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee. The match will be televised by TNT and Universo, with streaming available on Max and Peacock. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET, following the pre-match coverage at 8 p.m. ET.
Ghana has historically been a challenging opponent for the United States, having eliminated them from the World Cup in 2006 and 2010. The Black Stars will be aiming for their first victory on U.S. soil in the all-time series.
President Simeon-Okraku of the Ghana Football Association expressed the importance of such opportunities for team-building and preparation. The match against the United States provides a platform to test the strength of the Black Stars against one of the best teams in the world.
Before the friendly match, Ghana’s immediate focus is on the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar next month. Following that, they will continue their preparations for future assignments, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
