Agalga calls on the president to investigate the alleged plot to remove the IGP

Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga, has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to initiate an investigation into an alleged plot to remove Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

Agalga believes that this matter cannot be treated lightly as it involves an attempt to subvert the will of the people in the 2024 general elections.

He expressed his lack of confidence in the reassurances given by the Minister of Interior and urged the President to take action.

The Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, has dismissed reports of a plot to remove the IGP, stating that there is no such plan.

He emphasized the commitment of President Akufo-Addo to upholding human rights and ensuring a peaceful 2024 election. He assured the public that no one would seek to thwart the will of the people.

Portions of an audio recording have allegedly captured discussions about changing the IGP, with concerns raised about his suitability for the role.

However, the Minister of Interior has denied any plot and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a peaceful election. The specific individuals involved in the audio recording have not been identified.
