GHMediaHubStandout players from Morocco and Senegal have been named to the 2023 AFCON Best XI at the group stage following the conclusion of games in the first phase of the continental championship.
No player from Ghana’s Black Stars made it to the elite group despite having members of Ghana’s National Men’s Football team win the Man of the Match Award in all three games played in Group B.
Defenders Achraf Hakimi and Nayef Aguerd and midfielders Sofyan Amrabat and Azzedine Ounahi made it to the group representing Morocco.
Senegal on the other hand, had veteran defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Lamine Camara and Ismaila Sarr make the list.
The team is rounded up by Emilio Nsue from Equatorial Guinea, Gelson Dala from Angola, Arthur Masuaku from DR Congo and Jesus Owono from Equatorial Guinea.
The round of 16 stage commences on Saturday, January 27 with Angola taking on Namibia at 17:00 GMT and Nigeria taking on Cameroon at 20:00 GMT.
