GHMediaHubThe auditorium of the Church of Pentecost in Ejisu overflowed with attendees on Thursday, as Chiefs and constituents congregated for an acclamation ceremony honoring John Ampontuah Kumah, the Member of Parliament for Ejisu.
Having emerged uncontested in the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary primaries, as stipulated by the party’s regulations, Mr. Ampontuah Kumah underwent the acclamation process.
Notably, Mr. Ampontuah Kumah, who also serves as the deputy Finance Minister, is the first incumbent MP in the Ejisu Constituency to secure an uncontested victory. Among the Ashanti Region’s five NPP MPs who faced no contest in their party’s Parliamentary primaries, he stands out.
His dedication to empowering youth and driving infrastructure development in the area has garnered praise from many constituents, including NPP delegates.
In the presence of Electoral Commission officials and some NPP regional executives, the acclamation ceremony was conducted, officially endorsing Mr. Kumah as the party’s candidate for the 2024 Parliamentary elections.
Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support, Mr. Kumah underscored that his uncontested victory reflects the tangible impact of his efforts in Ejisu. He vowed to persist in delivering on the expectations of his constituents by advocating for community development and providing effective representation in Parliament.
Highlighting the NPP’s ambition to secure victory in the 2024 Presidential elections, Mr. Kumah emphasized the pivotal role of the Ejisu Constituency in achieving the party’s “Breaking the 8” target. He outlined plans for extensive grassroots campaigning, emphasizing a comprehensive outreach strategy encompassing door-to-door, church, and mosque engagements.
Kwame Adom Appiah, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP, urged constituents to uphold unity and steadfastly support their MP.
The NPP is slated to conduct Parliamentary primaries in constituencies with incumbent MPs.
