The National Democratic Congress (NDC) must invest in creating a perfect manifesto, according to Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante, a political scientist and senior lecturer at the University of Ghana.
He claims that by doing this, the party will be able to fix its recent shortcomings and satisfy the concerns of the average Ghanaian today.
“They need a practical plan that will aid them in overcoming the ongoing difficulties the party faced during the most recent elections.
“They need a manifesto, and I mean one that the general public will accept. In other words, it synchronizes with everyone’s attention which is walking down the street, and on the other end comes your message,” he explained.
His remarks were in response to a query from Joy News Today host Aisha Ibrahim about the tactics the late president John Mahama should employ to realize his goal of winning the 2024 elections.
The political scientist outlined the need for resources to mobilize people to rally support and market their messages.
He emphasized the need for words that would inspire people during the difficult circumstances the nation is through.
“These are some of the fundamental things they need to accomplish,” Dr. Asah-Asante continued, “but to do that, they need to get started, take data, and begin to analyze the data and put them along the lines. I’m referring to how you plan to begin teasing them out for messaging and using them in your manifesto.
He claimed that the party must evaluate its programs because of the differences between the circumstances surrounding the most recent elections and the country’s current situation.
“If you look at the economy, I’m unsure whether that was its nature at that time. Therefore they create a manifesto that will work for the current situation. The manifesto needs to be modified because circumstances have changed to make it relevant to the present-day situation.
“You’re also examining the unemployment rate. I’m not sure if they still hold up. It would be best if you addressed the question of infrastructure; are there more instances, in which case you require a specific number to supplement the system as it is now? he stated.
He said, “They need to review their manifesto and make the necessary revisions.
