GhMediaHubThe recent arrest of three suspected armed robbers, including a female, by the police has brought relief to the victim who had his car snatched on the Breman Kokoso to Amanfopong road in the Central Region.
The incident occurred on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in the evening, when the suspects hired a Toyota Yaris with registration number GC-6553-21 and snatched it from the driver at gunpoint.
According to reports by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, the female suspect, identified as Ruth Agyapong, was the gang leader and was first arrested at her hideout. She then led the police to arrest the other suspects, Edward and William Kissi.
The two other robbers had hidden in the cemetery and stormed out when Ruth was negotiating with the driver on the fare, firing gunshots and forcing the driver out of the car.
The suspects took the victim’s mobile phones, money, tied him with a rope, and sped off with the car. Fortunately, a good Samaritan who was returning from the farm saw the driver struggling, untied him, and helped him report the incident to the police.
Through investigations, Ruth was arrested, and a search in her hotel room led to the discovery of one pistol, live bullets, military uniform, knife, scissors, and other weapons.
The suspects have since been sent to the District Police Command at Breman Asikuma for further investigation. The incident highlights the need for individuals to be cautious when hiring taxis, especially in isolated areas.
It also demonstrates the importance of cooperation between the public and the police in fighting crime.
