In 2022, WhatsApp officially released a feature that has been in development for over three years. This feature enables users to access their accounts on multiple devices without having to log out and in again.
With the multi-device feature, users are no longer limited to adding non-phone devices. They can now link extra phones to their main device, allowing them to access all messages, calls, photos, videos, and voice recordings on all devices. Furthermore, all data transferred between devices is end-to-end encrypted.
WhatsApp has set a limit of four additional devices, meaning a total of five devices can be linked to one main phone. This new feature also benefits small business owners who can now use their company WhatsApp accounts to respond to customers from their personal phones.
However, if the primary device remains inactive for 14 days, all linked devices will be automatically logged out. WhatsApp plans to expand the feature to support other types of devices in the future.
