GhMediaHubThe Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, is seeking collaboration with Ghana in an effort to improve the energy sector of his country.
According to him, the country has qualified for a power compact from the Millennium Challenge, and would need to collaborate especially with the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCO).
He said this during a visit to the head office of GRIDCO at Tema to learn from Ghana’s management in improving its energy sector.
“Over the last three years, we have successfully passed the scorecard of the Millennium Challenge and we are eligible for a compact and that compact is a power compact. And we realize that Ghana is in the second compact which is essentially also a power compact.”
“So, we are in Ghana to share experiences with our Ghanaian colleagues particualry in the energy sector. We are here to learn from some of the good excellent work you have been doing and also to take cognisance of the challenges and how you manage to overcome those challenges”.
During the visit, the Vice President of Sierra Leone with his delegation were taken to the intelligent power system at GRIDCO where they were briefed on GRIDCO’s power operations.
The Chief Executive Officer of GRIDCO, Dr. Ebenezer Essienyi assured them of GRIDCO’s readiness to provide the necessary support to make the collaboration a reality, to improve Sierra Leone’s energy sector.
“We are ready to guide you in any aspect of our works, the traps that we fell in, what we learnt and what is it that we must do going forward. And also based on our knowledge of the industry for you, based on the Transco CLG project and the need to help you acquire the knowledge in terms of planning and maintenance, we are ready. You just need to call on us, and we will gladly come and assist your team in setting things up” he said.
