GHMediaHubNana Akomea, the Vice Chairman of the ‘Bawumia 2024 Campaign Team’, has vehemently dismissed allegations suggesting that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia bears sole responsibility for Ghana’s current economic difficulties.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pointed fingers at Vice President Bawumia, attributing a significant role to him in the Akufo-Addo administration’s economic challenges.
During an interview, Nana Akomea criticized the NDC’s assertions, emphasizing the concept of collective responsibility within the government.
He refuted claims that Bawumia had distanced himself from the economic issues or betrayed President Akufo-Addo, highlighting the Vice President’s consistent defense of the government.
Nana Akomea emphasized that it’s impossible to isolate Bawumia from the government due to his position as the sitting Vice President.
“He accepts collective responsibility. What the NDC has tried to do, not in a clever way, what they are trying to say is Bawumia is responsible for whatever difficulties we are in today. How can he be responsible? How can you say one person is responsible?” he questioned.
Nana Akomea also pointed out the economic challenges during former President Mahama’s administration, highlighting corruption, power outages (dumsor), and economic difficulties.
“If you are going to assign responsibilities to one person, then between former President Mahama and Bawumia, a Vice President, who will take on bigger responsibilities?” he added.
Overall, Nana Akomea emphasized the need to recognize the collective responsibility within the government and dismissed attempts to solely blame Vice President Bawumia for the country’s economic challenges.
