WTO boss hails impact of digitalization on the rise of digital trade in Ghana

The Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Nkojo-Iweala, has commended Ghana for her significant progress in advancing digital trade.

In a meeting with Trade Minister K.T. Hammond, the WTO chief, who is in the nation on an official visit, stated that digital trade is increasing around the world and gave Ghana as an example because of the impressive progress that the government has made in its digitalization efforts over the past six years.

According to the WTO director, the rise of digital trade is “one of the most exciting developments in the world right now.”

According to the data, digitally supplied services are growing at the highest rate, and Ghana is doing well.

Whether it’s a professional service company, trade, intellectual service, back office function with others, or online digital trading of women and men, digitally supplied services in Ghana are doing well. That is expanding quickly.

The WTO director praised Ghana while advising young Ghanaians to capitalize on the opportunity.

She said, “I want to encourage young men and women to do more digital trade because Ghana is doing so well.”

Following an ambitious government-led push toward digitization over the past six years, Ghana has gained recognition as one of Africa’s most technologically proficient nations.

Numerous governmental services are available online. Thanks to the nation’s mobile money interoperability, which enables quick money transfers between all mobile money wallets and banks and vice versa, digital trade is also on the rise as the private sector has benefited from the advancement of technology.
