The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has given the government until May 12 to approve and pay new salaries, including all arrears from January to May 2023.
Failure to do so would result in an industrial action. The association stated that it had not heard from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on the matter as of May 5, prompting the activation of industrial action plans.
The National Labour Commission has been notified of the intention to strike, in line with Sections 159-161 of the Ghana Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).
If the government fails to respond favourably by May 12, all staff of the Judicial Service will wear red armbands from May 15, and a full-blown strike will be declared from May 22 if their grievances are not addressed.
