GhMediaHubThe National Communications Authority (NCA) in Ghana has requested telecommunication networks to provide in writing the total number of Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) that were disconnected for non-compliance with the government’s directive.
The directive required all subscribers to register their SIMs with their Ghana Cards by a final deadline of March 31, 2023. The NCA has requested that telcos delink from their databases all SIMs that have been disconnected in compliance with the deadline and remove them from their SIM Registration databases by April 17, 2023.
Additionally, SIMs registered beyond the limit of 10 for a subscriber should also be delinked, deactivated, and removed. Failure to comply with the directives would be a violation of the Subscriber Identity Module Registration Regulations, 2011.
The telcos have been given until Tuesday, April 18, 2023, to indicate in writing the total number of SIMs disconnected in compliance with the directive.
