A man posing as a military officer with a fake service name, WO II Samuel Owusu Dartey, has been arrested by the police in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis of the Western Region.
The suspect, who carried a pistol and handcuffs, has been terrorizing unsuspecting residents, sometimes even wearing military uniform.
The imposter’s activities were exposed through an encounter with a private surveyor named Clifford Pablo Yakah. The suspect had been hired by a family to intimidate the surveyor in a land issue.
The victim became suspicious and contacted his military relative, who assisted in trailing and apprehending the imposter.
The suspect is currently in custody at the Kwesimintsim Police Station, and items such as a pistol, military uniform, and a list of names of individuals he had extorted money from under the pretense of military recruitment were seized.
Other victims are coming forward to share their experiences, and an identification parade will be arranged for them to identify the suspect.
