GhMediaHubAccording to the Sokoto state police spokesman, Ahmad Rufa’i, the victim, Usman Buda, worked as a butcher at the Sokoto city abattoir and was attacked by a group of Muslim individuals who inflicted severe injuries on him.
The mob fled the scene when the police arrived, leaving the victim unconscious. Buda was taken to the hospital by the police for treatment, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Authorities are currently searching for the perpetrators involved in the incident.
Reportedly, the confrontation leading to the killing stemmed from an argument about child beggars asking for money. Witnesses claim that Buda became involved in a dispute after expressing disapproval of the children, during which he allegedly made blasphemous remarks about the Prophet Muhammad.
A disturbing video circulating on social media depicts a mob throwing stones at a man as he stumbles and falls.
In response to the incident, Sokoto state Governor Ahmed Aliyu has called on the people to remain calm and law-abiding. However, he emphasized that individuals should refrain from engaging in actions that could degrade the character of the Prophet Muhammad.
It is worth noting that in May of the previous year, a female student in Sokoto was attacked and killed by Muslim students at her college, who then set her body on fire. She had been accused of blasphemy.
