The Osino Presby Senior High and Technical School is currently under police surveillance following a violent confrontation between students and community members from Nsuapemso, resulting in one fatality. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, has prompted heightened security measures in and around the school premises.
According to sources, the confrontation stemmed from a previous altercation on Monday, February 19, 2024, when a student allegedly confiscated a phone belonging to a town resident and subjected him to physical assault during a school debate. Seeking retribution, the town residents returned the following day, leading to a violent clash with the students.
During the altercation, the town residents attempted to set fire to the boys’ dormitory, but were thwarted by the students. However, one of the town residents was apprehended, beaten severely, and later pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Additionally, a vehicle belonging to one of the town residents was set ablaze by the students.
In response to the incident, the Fanteakwa South District Security Council (DISEC) convened a meeting and deployed police personnel to the school to maintain law and order, enhance security, and restore peace. DISEC also visited the family of the deceased to offer condolences and assured them of a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure justice is served.
