A 25-year-old woman named Eunice has reportedly been killed by her husband during a scuffle at Nungua in the Greater Accra Region.
According to reports, Eunice died on the spot after being inflicted with cutlass wounds during the attack. The suspect was also reported to have attacked his father-in-law.
Eunice had moved out of the house due to emotional and physical abuse by her husband. She had gone to her husband’s house to present a summon letter from the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit when the incident occurred.
Eunice’s father, Ebenezer Dwomoh, described the suspect as a serial wife-beater who forced his daughter to move out of the house.
After committing the crime, the suspect tried to escape but was apprehended by residents who subjected him to severe beating.
Mr Dwomoh appealed to the Ghana Police Service to ensure the suspect faces the full rigours of the law, adding that they would follow the issue until the man is jailed.
