GHMediaHubThe Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it has launched an internal investigation into the tragic death of a first-year student at Aburi Girls’ Senior High School. The student, Stacey Okyere, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, after experiencing intense stomach pains.
According to reports, Stacey had complained of severe stomach pains but was allegedly denied medical attention by the school nurse, who accused her of feigning illness. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The circumstances surrounding Stacey’s death have raised concerns and criticism of the school’s management, with the family accusing them of neglect.
In response, the GES has stated that it is collaborating with law enforcement agencies to conduct an independent investigation into the matter. The service has also expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage and calls for accountability, with many demanding answers and justice for Stacey Okyere.
