The Black Stars’ training camp in Vienna has been hit by a robbery at the team hotel, just days before their international friendly against Austria. Ghana’s senior national team arrived in Vienna on Sunday, with training kicking off Monday. But things took a sour turn after Wednesday’s session when two players reportedly lost Rolex watches worth around $20,000, according to Sporty FM. It got worse the next day with $2,250 cash missing from a team official’s room. The team reported the incident to authorities, but investigations are tough since the hotel’s security cameras aren’t working.
Despite the disruption, the Black Stars are focused on Saturday’s game against Austria at Ernst-Happel-Stadion (17:00 GMT). Coach Otto Addo’s squad is preparing for a big friendly against Germany in Stuttgart on March 30, crucial for their 2026 FIFA World Cup prep.
The Austria game marks the teams’ first meeting since a 1-1 draw in 2007. Expect a competitive match as Ghana pushes for a strong result ahead of Germany.
