GhMediaHubAccording to a recent interview with the headmistress, Alice Martha Adjei, of St Mary’s Girls Senior High School located in Konongo, Ashanti Region, 15 of their students are currently pregnant.
The students who are affected are composed of a first-year student, 10 second-year students, and four final-year students. Madam Adjei reported that some of the students were pleased to inform her of their pregnancy, while others were less open.
Furthermore, it was stated that the first-year student is already pregnant, and will be giving birth soon. The headmistress is worried about the situation and noted that some of the students were initially reported sick, but eventually, the cause of their sickness was discovered to be pregnancy.
Others she said left the school without asking permission.
The distraught headmistress appealed to parents of the final year pregnant girls return to school to enable them register for their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
